Carl Brincat to step down as CEO of MGA

Carl Brincat, the head of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), has decided not to renew his contract. He will step down on January 25, 2024, when his term of office expires. Brincat has held the post since January 2021.As a result, the MGA will hold a public selection process for his replacement and plans to approve the new chapter before he leaves. The new chapter will work with Brincat for several weeks before his term ends. This will ensure a smooth transition from one administration to the next.

MGA Chairman, Ryan Pace, expressed gratitude to Brincat for his contribution and confidence in the future of the regulator after his departure. Prior to becoming head of the regulator, Brincat held various positions at the MG. These included being a lawyer and dealing with legislative issues from a legal perspective. Brincat also said that leaving the MGA was a difficult decision for him, but he is proud of the work he has done with the regulator's team.
