Indonesia remains steadfast in its fight against illegal gambling activities, with a dedicated team of 150 specialists actively engaged in detecting and blocking online gaming platforms targeting players within the country. Deputy Minister of Communications and Information, Nezar Patria, shared insights into the department's proactive measures during a press briefing.
The specialized task force operates around the clock from the department's headquarters, utilizing advanced technological tools such as artificial intelligence and web crawling software to identify and restrict access to banned gambling sites. Since July 2022, the ministry has achieved significant success, blocking access to approximately 1.5 million illicit online gambling platforms.
Patria underscored the importance of collaborative efforts with site operators, including prominent platforms like Meta and X, to effectively remove negative digital content. By leveraging partnerships and deploying cutting-edge technologies, Indonesia remains committed to curbing illegal gambling activities and safeguarding its citizens from the associated risks.
