Reports from iGB indicate that Jontay Porter, center for the Toronto Raptors, was recognized as a VIP customer of FanDuel Sportsbook, despite abstaining from betting on basketball. Contrary to speculation, Porter was not among the top players in Colorado during the two years he engaged in sports betting, as per media sources.
A source cited by Sports Handle revealed that Porter placed over a thousand bets between 2021 and 2023. However, it's noted that he never placed bets on basketball, the sport in which he actively competes. The source further clarified that Porter was one of twenty athletes granted VIP status by FanDuel.
Following Porter's involvement in an illegal betting case, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver denounced the act as a "grave sin" if a player were to bet on their own sport. However, media reports confirm that Porter did not engage in such behavior. Commissioner Silver emphasized that any basketball player found betting on their own games would face disqualification from the league.
