The Nevada Gaming Control Board has taken legal action against Scott Sibella, a former prominent figure in the casino industry, by filing a formal complaint. This move follows Sibella's admission of guilt four months ago for breaching anti-money laundering regulations.
Sibella, who was previously the president of Resorts World Las Vegas, was removed from his position last September, shortly after the grand opening of the lavish $4.3 billion hotel. Now facing potential penalties and fines, Sibella is under scrutiny from the gaming regulator for his involvement in the violation.
In November 2023, Resorts World Las Vegas, along with Sibella, was embroiled in a federal lawsuit initiated by Robert "RJ" Cipriani, alleging negligence and conspiracy related to illicit gambling operations. Sibella's legal team sought to dismiss the case amicably, contending that Cipriani's accusations lacked merit and were driven by personal motives. Despite Cipriani seeking compensatory and punitive damages, Resorts World's representatives dismissed the claims as unsubstantiated.
