Brazilian football star Ronaldinho (full name Ronaldinho Gaúcho, widely known by his first name) has signed a contract with game developer Booming Games to create slot machines featuring him. The company will release several machines inspired by the footballer’s victories in 2005, the year he received the highest individual award in football – the Ballon d’Or.
Max Niehusen, CEO of Booming Games, stated that partnering with a football legend is a strategic move that “puts us in our own league.” The new machines, expected to draw in Ronaldinho’s 170 million social media followers, are slated for release in early 2024 under the name “The Magician.”
Ronaldinho played as an attacking midfielder and forward for the Brazilian national team. He was a World Cup champion in 2002 and was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005. He played for Brazilian clubs Gremio and Fluminense. Ronaldinho announced his retirement from football in 2018.
