The Star Entertainment Group Ltd has announced the appointment of Janelle Campbell, an experienced casino executive, as the new CEO of The Star Sydney casino resort. Campbell, who boasts a decade of experience in Macau's gaming industry, including significant roles in anti-money laundering (AML), is awaiting regulatory approvals for her new position.
Her tenure at Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd in Macau saw her manage finance, supply chain, and AML functions. At The Star Sydney, she will report to group CEO Robbie Cooke, contributing to the casino's transformation program and efforts to regain operational suitability.
Campbell's appointment comes during a crucial period for The Star Sydney, which faces a six-month deadline to retrieve its suspended casino license. Her extensive background, including roles in major Australian hotels and casinos, makes her as a key figure in navigating the casino through its challenges with national industry regulations.
