John Textor, owner of Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, reiterated his accusations of match-fixing within Brazilian football during a session of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) into sports betting.
Confirming his previous claims, Textor alleged instances of match-fixing, prompting Senator Jorge Kajuru to escalate the matter to the director of the federal police, Andrei Rodriguez. Kajuru urged the federal police to summon Textor and request any available evidence to substantiate his claims.
Textor had previously asserted that players from Sao Paulo were bribed during a match against Palmeiras in the Brazilian top-flight league, which Palmeiras won 5–0. Additionally, Textor had earlier stated that he possessed a recording implicating a referee who had allegedly accepted bribes. These allegations come in the wake of Textor's ongoing scrutiny of potential match-fixing activities dating back to 2017.
