From July 1, Erik Konings will take over as the new director of the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA), replacing current leader Pieter-Paul de Goeij. Reflecting on recent years as he introduced his successor, de Goeij acknowledged the turbulence and hailed the opening of the Dutch online gambling market as a significant milestone.
“I am now retiring, but I am confident that the sector will continue to make efforts to make the gambling sector safe. This was and is the best way to achieve optimal consumer protection. “I thank the NOGA board for the trust they have placed in me over the past five years and am confident in handing over the reins of the association to Eric,” he said.
Konings also commented on the new position and said he looks forward to helping NOGA members navigate the challenges that arise from political and social issues.
Remco de Boer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NOGA, added: “We are very grateful to Peter-Paul for his commitment over the last 5 years, during which he has contributed to the transformation of Speel Verantwoord into NOGA. As a result, NOGA was able to well represent the interests of its members during a turbulent period for the industry.”
He also supported the new director, expressing confidence that the coming period will be no less fruitful.
