Bally's Set to Introduce Sports Betting in Massachusetts by Summer
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission's Director of Sports Betting, Bruce Band, has revealed that casino operator Bally's is gearing up to launch its Bally's Bet platform in the state by the end of the second quarter. This announcement follows the rejection of two other sports betting proposals.
Although Bally's secured its license in Massachusetts back in 2023, the operator had yet to launch its sportsbook in the state. Consequently, Bally's had to renew its license in January 2024, incurring a $1 million cost. While competitors like BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, Fanatics Sportsbook, and FanDuel are already operational in Massachusetts, Betr and WynnBet recently ceased their operations.
It's noteworthy that on March 5, Bally's initiated its gaming platform in Rhode Island, where it holds a virtual monopoly on online sports betting. This launch holds significance as Bally's has indicated to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission its intent to prioritize Rhode Island operations in 2023.
