IBIA Reports Surge in Suspicious Betting Alerts
The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has recorded a significant uptick in suspicious betting alerts during the first quarter, signaling a 64.7% increase compared to the final quarter of 2023. A total of 56 alerts were flagged, spanning six sports across 21 countries and five continents.
IBIA, known for its stringent oversight of sports betting integrity, actively monitors suspicious betting patterns to identify potential instances of sports corruption. With over 50 member companies and more than 125 betting entities under its purview, IBIA serves as the largest integrity monitoring center within the sports betting industry.
Commenting on the rise in alerts, IBIA Chief Executive Khalid Ali underscored the persistent challenges posed by match fixing. He emphasized that the association's ability to analyze comprehensive global client account data, accessible solely to IBIA and its members, is instrumental in identifying and addressing such threats to sporting integrity.
