The betting association will monitor compliance with the rules in Brazil

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) welcomed legislation to regulate gambling in Brazil, passed in December. IBIA promised to monitor compliance with the new legislation in the sports field. The document must now be signed by the country's president, Lula da Silva. The law introduces a regulation and licensing system for operators in the country, both for the betting sector and online casinos.

IBIA CEO Khalid Ali said Parliament's law approval is a "historic point" for betting in Brazil and an essential step in the fight against match-fixing. Now, according to the independent analytical company H2 Gambling Capital (which studies the global gambling market), the association works with more than 60% of gambling operators in Brazil.

On December 22, the Brazilian Parliament approved Bill 3626/2023, which regulates gambling and sports betting. They tried to adopt the document in September, but meetings were constantly postponed for various reasons.
