G2E: leadership and player engagement models

One G2E panel discussed how leadership can impact a team, not only in terms of morale but also talent retention.

At G2E 2023 in Las Vegas this week, GGW hosted a panel discussion on leadership in the gaming industry. Participants included Lauren Bates, Cassie Stratford, Kristi Eikelman, and Anika Howard.The discussion emphasized the importance of delegation and trust in creating a positive work environment to support talent.

Trust in the team facilitates their development without micromanagement.However, despite the importance of trust, participants emphasized that some level of monitoring and supervision is needed to make sure work is getting done. The group also expressed concern about millions of women leaving the workforce in 2020 and emphasized the importance of talent retention.

Leaders were encouraged to support and help them grow.It was also emphasized that not trusting your team's talent is a path to demotivation and it is important to allow team members to showcase their skills.Finally, participants discussed the importance of engaging in social life in the workplace and being able to identify when someone feels isolated.
