Riot Announces Integration of Japanese League into PCS Ecosystem

Riot Games, the developer of the esports discipline League of Legends (LOL), has announced the integration of the Japanese league into the Pacific Championship Series (PCS) ecosystem. This series includes players from the Pacific region, including those from Macau, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.

Starting in 2024, Japanese esports athletes will join the PCS playoffs stage to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship or the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). Riot explained this decision as a move to increase the competitiveness of the Asia-Pacific region's league. The company also mentioned that the regular season matches will be held in Japan.

Details regarding the number of qualification spots available after the integration of the LJL have not been disclosed.

Ever since LOL became an international esports discipline alongside Dota 2 and CS:GO, many bookmakers have offered betting on various matches and individual in-game events.
