What happened in cybersports in September 2023

The cybersports industry saw some interesting developments in the first month of fall.

TSM sold its League of Legends LCS franchise slot to Shopify Rebellion, ending its longtime presence in North America. TSM's League of Legends lineup will play under the Shopify Rebellion banner next season in 2024. Details of the deal were not disclosed, but it is known that TSM plans to join another league, possibly the LPL in China.

Cybersports tournament organizer BLAST has completed a successful funding round, raising €12.7 million. The funds will help the company expand its global operations and host cybersports events with game publishers such as Valve, Ubisoft, and Epic Games.

Footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko of Arsenal and former NAVI coach, Mykhailo Blahin, created the cybersports organization Passion UA. It will start its journey with a CS:GO team, which will participate in regional and international competitions
