ACMA blocks online casino sites in Australia

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has directed the blocking of two additional websites for unlawfully providing gambling services within the country.

The ACMA is urging ISPs to block access to Richard Casino and Wanted Win, as both websites are in violation of the Australian Online Gambling Act 2001. It is important to note that online gambling operators in Australia must have a licence and comply with national regulations. Over 1,000 sites have been blocked since 2019.

Blocking a website is one option to protect Australians from illegal gambling services. The ACMA may take such action if an operator offers prohibited services such as online casinos and online sports betting.
Operators can also be blocked for organising gambling without a licence and publishing advertisements for unlicenced activities in the country.
