Australian Authorities to Block Eight Gambling Sites for Violating Laws

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has announced its decision to block eight gambling websites for violating local gambling laws. The sites identified for closure include Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, Rockwin, Bitdreams, Mr. Pacho, Casino Infinity, Zota Bet, and Spicyjackpots.

While specific violations for these sites were not disclosed, ACMA emphasized that offering gambling services without a proper license or advertising unlicensed services could lead to serious consequences for the companies involved.

Although ACMA lacks the authority to block websites independently, it can request Australian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to implement the blocks. This enforcement mechanism has been utilized by the organization since November 2019, resulting in the closure of 945 illegal gambling sites and the withdrawal of 221 online services from Australia.

The ACMA also issued a reminder to consumers, highlighting the risks associated with using unlicensed gambling services. Consumers are advised that even seemingly legitimate services may not provide adequate protection, leaving users vulnerable in case of disputes or withheld winnings.
