Data compromised despite ransom payment

The August cyberattack targeted an IT support provider, allowing hackers to access personal customer data stored in Caesars' loyalty program database. The leaked information included member names, social security numbers, ID numbers, and dates of birth.

However, it is important to note that PINs and passwords remained intact, and payment information such as card numbers and bank accounts remained inaccessible to the hackers.The company is now actively working to clean up the system and remove the stolen data.

Caesars emphasized that there is no evidence that the stolen information was used or shared. In response to the incident, they are offering data protection services to loyalty program members for two years and urging everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity on their accounts.

It is also worth clarifying that initially there were rumors of a ransom payment to the hacker group, but at the moment there is no confirmation of this information.
