Controversial NBA player is ready to admit to illegal sports betting

According to a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Jontay Porter, a suspended NBA player, is set to admit guilt to charges of illegal sports betting and sharing confidential information.

According to The Athletic, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York has indicated that Porter is anticipated to enter a guilty plea on July 10. As of now, there has been no issuance of an arrest warrant for the athlete.

In April, the National Basketball League suspended the Toronto Raptors' centre, sparking investigations in both the United States and Canada. Recently, the Ontario Provincial Police announced plans to delve into the player's involvement in a potential NBA betting scandal.

However, law enforcement agencies said they plan to cooperate with US federal authorities on the case. Earlier this week, media confirmed that the former NBA player was indicted by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn.
