Kenya Imposes Restrictions on Online Betting Advertising

The High Court of Kenya has instructed the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) to reduce online information about gambling and sports betting, specifically targeting the curtailment of online advertising by operators. The court directive includes the removal of the speed dial feature from browsers, which automatically completes web addresses when users begin typing, facilitating immediate access to the site.

This move comes after the Consumer Federation of Kenya filed a lawsuit against the BCLB, accusing it of failing to adequately control the actions of bookmakers. The organization's secretary-general, Stephen Mutoro, emphasized the BCLB's "moral and legal duty" to the citizens of the country, calling for a more responsible approach to gambling.
