MAO Gaming sues Ameristar Casino in Colorado over copyright issues

MAO Gaming, a company that creates table games, has filed a lawsuit against Ameristar Casino, owned by Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ: PENN), in Colorado. They claim that Ameristar has infringed on their trademark rights related to MAO's STREAK blackjack game.

MAO has long owned the rights to a variation of STREAK blackjack with a patent dating back to December 1, 2001.STREAK is an additional bet on regular blackjack tables, allowing players to bet on how many times they will get blackjack. Blackjack is one of the most popular table games in Las Vegas and regional casinos.

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Colorado, MAO representatives allege that Ameristar Black Hawk "advertised, promoted, offered, and ultimately profited from the unauthorized and unlicensed use of MAO's marks."
