New Betting Limits on Slots to Be Introduced in the UK

The UK government is set to unveil new betting limits on slots next week, as part of the country's updated gambling policy. Under the new regulations, players under 25 will have a maximum betting limit of £2 per spin on slots, while those over 25 will be allowed up to £5 per spin. This move follows earlier government research suggesting that the betting cap could result in substantial losses for UK online casinos.

The announcement of the betting limits is scheduled for March 1 and is a key aspect of the updated gambling policy introduced in April 2023. Although the initial proposal was for a £15 limit, the final limits have been tightened, reflecting ongoing consultations with regulators and industry stakeholders that began in July.

The implementation of these limits aims to address concerns about the potential harm caused by high-stakes gambling, with Labour MP Carolyn Harris advocating for a universal £2 per spin limit for all players, irrespective of age.
