Norwegian Gamblers May Face Account Blocks and Frozen Transactions

Norwegians attempting to gamble from outside the country could encounter measures such as blocked bank accounts or frozen transactions. Analysts from BNN Bloomberg issued a report warning of the potential consequences of Norway's stringent regulations, stating that these strict restrictions could impact Norwegian citizens even when they are abroad.

The restrictions extend to Norwegians residing in other countries. For instance, if a client attempts to access an online casino from Spain using a Norwegian bank account, they may face similar consequences as if they were in their home country. Despite the challenges, the European Gaming and Betting Association has expressed support for Norway's introduction of a new licensing system.

Norway's parliamentary legislation, set by the Storting, is considered one of the strictest in Europe. The country maintains a state gambling monopoly, where only Norsk Rikstoto (for lotteries) and Norsk Tipping (for online casinos and betting) are authorized to provide iGaming services.
