Actor Sahil Khan Arrested in Mahadev Betting App Case

Following his arrest in connection with the Mahadev betting app case, actor Sahil Khan has been remanded to judicial custody until May 1 by a Mumbai court. The decision came after the Bombay High Court dismissed his plea for pre-arrest bail. Law enforcement officials revealed that Khan was found in possession of over 2,000 SIM cards and 1,700 bank accounts registered under his name.

In defense of his client, Khan's lawyer, Mujahid Ansari, emphasized Khan's cooperation with the investigation, highlighting his provision of relevant documents pertaining to the accounts in question.

In 2023, Indian authorities took action against the largest illegal bookmaker network, Mahadev Book, shutting down 22 unlicensed betting and gambling sites. The Mahadev application alone boasted more than 80 thousand users. These measures are part of the Indian government's broader efforts to combat illegal bookmakers offering online betting and casino services to Indian citizens.
