Sandro Tonali Receives Two-Month Ban for Betting Offenses

Newcastle and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali has been handed a two-month suspension due to betting-related offenses. The English authorities opted not to extend the sanctions against the Italian player, imposing a two-month ban and a £20,000 fine.

Tonali admitted to committing 50 violations between August 12 and October 12, though he denies betting on Champions League matches or non-English football clubs. He placed bets on his team's outcomes three times and wagered on Newcastle's victory over Manchester City on September 27.

The player stated that he could not recall the exact amount of his bets but clarified that he never wagered more than €10,000. Tonali attributed his actions to a gambling addiction and emphasized that he did not bet with the intention of winning.
