Bacta Appoints Declan Johnson as New Communications Adviser

Bacta, the British entertainment industry association, has announced the appointment of Declan Johnson as its new communications adviser. Johnson will directly report to George MacGregor, the executive director of government affairs at Bacta.

MacGregor emphasised the importance of this role, stating, "With the recent general election in July, not only do we have a new government, but over 50% of elected MPs are newcomers to the House of Commons. Our sector is heavily regulated, making it essential for us to engage in constructive dialogue with political stakeholders and ensure strong representation within the government."

Declan Johnson, who holds an MA in Politics from Birkbeck University and has experience in political communications and public affairs, will be joining the Bacta team. The association is optimistic that his expertise will amplify their presence in discussions on significant industry issues.

In his role, Johnson will help Bacta pursue its policy goals, which focus on expediting the implementation of reforms outlined in the White Paper, reassessing maximum stakes and prize levels, and advocating for the adoption of modern payment methods for low stakes and low prize slot machines.
