Geoff Banks Online receives warning from ASA for unclear adverts

The ASA issued a warning to GB Sports Advisors Ltd (TM Geoff Banks Online) regarding potentially deceptive betting advertising. This action came after a complaint from a client who felt that the promotion did not provide clear terms and conditions, violating CAP guidelines.

The advertising message stated that to receive a free bet, the customer had to respond to a text message, and within a limited time. However, the conditions themselves did not stipulate that the participant would receive an SMS and would need to respond to it.

“These were material terms which are likely to have affected consumers' understanding of the promotion,” the ASA said in a statement. “We therefore considered their omissions to be misleading.”

GB Sports Advisors refuted the allegations and stated that all terms were clearly outlined. Consequently, the ASA warned Geoff Banks Online against using such advertising and mandated clearly outlining all promotional terms in future ads.
