Google Alters Gambling Ads Policy in the US

Google, the developer of the eponymous search engine, has changed its rules for placing gambling advertisements in the US. Online casinos and betting agencies will now need to undergo additional certification. This measure applies both to sports betting (in Vermont) and to companies conducting lottery draws in Arkansas, Montana, New Jersey, and New York.

Applications for additional verification can be made by online gaming operators with a private license, state organizations, and land-based casino operators. Previously, Google had completely prohibited the advertising of gambling houses and gambling entertainment. However, as legislation has become more lenient, the company’s policy has also changed.

Google will block advertisements that actively entice users to start gambling or place sports bets. Only safe ad clips without involving players in the game or manipulative practices will be allowed, the company emphasized.
