Survey Finds 80% of Lithuanians Support Ban on Gambling Advertising

A recent survey conducted by Baltijos Tyrimai, a public opinion and market research company, revealed that 80% of Lithuanians are in favor of implementing a ban on gambling advertising in the country. The survey, which polled individuals aged 18 and above, found that 15% were opposed to the ban, while 5% remained undecided.

The data further showed that a higher percentage of women (86%) compared to men (72%) supported the ban on gambling advertising. Additionally, there was significant support among Lithuanian residents over 50 years of age, with 84% in favor, as well as individuals with above-average education and monthly income of up to €1,100, with 85% expressing support.

On the other hand, those opposed to the ban were more likely to be men (21%), individuals under 30 (23%), rural residents (18%), and those with incomplete secondary education (30%).

With 1,115 Lithuanian residents participating in the survey, these findings reflect a notable sentiment among the population regarding gambling advertising. The survey results coincide with ongoing discussions in the country's parliament regarding proposed amendments to the gambling law, with plans to implement the advertising ban from January 1, 2025.
